The Lord Mayor’s 2007 Australia Day Awards are now open for nomination.

The CCIAP successfully launched its very first “First Mondays” networking event on 6 November 2006 at Café Mindoro. This initiative aims to bring together like minded people and give them the opportunity to network with the Australian Filipino business community, academia and professionals.

His Excellency Vice Admiral Ernesto Hernandez de Leon, ambassador of the Philippines to Australia, opened the First All Filipino Art Exhibit here in Brisbane, sponsored and hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Australia Philippines Incorporated.

Nicholas Louis Kirke, CCIAP Vice President visited Binalonan, Pangasinan upon the invitation of Mayor Ramon & Mrs Arlyn Guico in March 2007. He was also the guest of honor and crowned the Queen of Binalonan during their Town Fiesta.

Early this month, the State Department – headed by Ms.Sallyanne Atkinson, Special Trade Representative of the Queensland Government to Far East Asia – sponsored a mining trade mission to Manila, composed of Australian businesses interested in supplying, assisting, and investing in the fast-growing mining sector in the Philippines.

On June 1, 2007, Lord Mayor Campbell Newman – together with the Multicultural Round Table hosted a black tie business networking dinner at City Hall.

The Chamber’s business for 2007 kicked off when it held its “First Mondays” Networking Event on 5 February 2007.

On a beautiful Brisbane September morning the committee of Gawad Kalinga (to give care) Brisbane hosted a special breakfast to honor Mr. Tony Meloto, the recipient of the 2007 Ramon Magsaysay award for Community Leadership in the Philippines.
